Lampe Pigeon
Frenchman Charles Pigeon filed a patent in the 1880s. He exhibited at the Paris Exhibition of 1900. “10000 francs guarantee that they are ‘inexplosable’ is written on the handle, however after having to pay out a few times he removed it on later versions from 1910 onwards.
Mr Pigeon died in 1915 and his family's tomb in Montparnasse Cemetery, Paris, has one of his lamps burning, maintained by his descendants.
